The FIU women’s basketball starting guard Kristian Hudson will transfer to a new program, following her graduation in July.

The junior point guard announced her intention to transfer through her Twitter account on Monday, May 7.

“I am announcing that I will be transferring to another university as a graduate transfer student to obtain my master’s degree,” said the junior point guard via Twitter.

Hudson played three seasons for the Panthers, and established herself as cornerstone on the team early on as freshman. In her first season, she started 29 games out of 31 games in the 2015-16 season, while averaging 9.9 points per game. The Birmingham, AL native also led the team with 124 assists, while also being one of ten players in the conference to grab 100 assists.

During her freshman season, Hudson made her lone trip to the Conference USA Women’s Basketball Championship, where the bottom ranked Panthers defeated No. 11 UTSA 61-56. The following round, 14th seeded Panthers were knocked out by the Marshall Thundering Herd, as the team suffered a 76-44 defeat.

The starting point guard progressed her offensive game during her sophomore campaign, as she increased her average to 12.1 point per game.

In her final year with the program, Hudson finished with 14.5 points per game, while also being ranked 12th in scoring in conference play. The junior played 36.7 minutes per game, which was second to Middle Tennessee’s Abbey Sissom who averaged 37.8 minutes per game.

Kristian Hudson will graduate in July with bachelor’s degree in psychology.
