With Student Government Council at Modesto Maidique Campus elections coming quickly, the deadline for hopeful candidates for Senate to turn in applications may dismay some.
During last year’s elections, students wishing to run for any senate position had a deadline set in March for their applications. This year, the deadline has been pushed up much earlier, to Feb. 18. After applications have been turned in, and all eligible candidates have been chosen, there will be information held specifically for the candidates that will cover all the rules and regulations on candidacy.
Surprisingly enough, the scheduled “Meet your Candidates” event is set for March 30, a month after all applications must be submitted.
The events scheduled after the “Meet your Candidates” event are tightly scheduled, occurring all during the days of Apr. 1 to Apr. 7. In this time, students will not only meet their candidates, debates will be held, and final voting and announcement of winners will be conducted.
The candidates will be able to campaign from March 30 to Apr. 1, and after those dates the rest of the scheduled events will occur.
