Gov. Rick Scott vetoed $46 million in college and university tuition increases before signing a $74.1 billion budget, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Scott said he intends to maintain tuition and hopes state university presidents would reject increases; however, they refused.

According to the report, universities said they will not ask the Board of Governors to raise tuition as high as the legal 15 percent, but they have not refused inflation completely.

Scott told the Tampa Bay Times that he does not believe tuition should go up and that it has risen too fast in the last few years.
