More swinging chairs please

From the moment I stepped on campus, I fell in love with the fountain by the Graham Center.

If you know the fountain I am speaking of, you would also know that around the fountain, there are swinging chairs that are comfortable, beautiful, and peaceful.

The only thing wrong with these swinging chairs, is the fact that there are not enough of them.

From early in the morning, to late at night, every swinging chair is taken. People love to study, do home work, hang out, and just relax in the chairs.

I personally believe the University should install more of these wonderful outside resting and study areas.

Lets face it, ever since starting college, we haven’t been able to spend as much time outside as we would like too. With papers to write, tests to study for, emails to respond to, phone calls to make, job applications to fill out, work outs to force ourselves into, we don’t have the time we wished we had to just be outside and enjoy our natural surroundings.

These chairs allow us to take care of all of those responsibilities, while at the same time, providing a breath of fresh air, a serene background sound of the fountain flowing, and beautiful scenery to enjoy.

Although the library is a very studious and helpful place, I really don’t think anyone would rather be stuck in a building reading, when they could be outside reading.

I feel the University would make such a beneficial investment if they added more swinging chairs to campus.

Just like exercise, fresh air is so important to the health and well-being of humans. There are many aspects of campus that I feel people are entirely unaware of, appreciate, or even notice exist.

I am in no way saying these parts of campus are a waste of money, but I feel the University would be making a better investment decision if they spent the time and money on adding these chairs to campus, because people would use them more.

There was a time at the very beginning of spring semester when I saw there were chairs being added to the other side of the shrubbery by the fountain, however within a day, they were gone again.

Although they looked a bit out of place, I feel there has to be places around campus where these chairs would fit in, and that everyone would agree that these chairs are worth the time and money to be a part of the University.
