The University football staff will spend a day helping youngsters hone their athletic skills and their football coaches improve their craft.

Sponsored by the Orange Bowl Committee and Sports Authority, the Youth Football Clinic and the Coaches Clinic will be led by FIU football head coach Ron Turner, along with his assistant coaches and student athletes on Saturday, June 28.

Boys and girls between 5 and 15 years old can participate in the half-day clinic, free of charge.

The staff will teach kids offensive, defensive and agility drills, proper techniques to promote on-field football safety. The kids will also learn about character development and good sportsmanship.

The Youth Football Clinic runs from 9 a.m. until noon.

As the kids leave the Alfonso Field and FIU Stadium after noon,  youth football coaches from all over South Florida are invited to attend the Coaches Clinic from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Turner and his staff will focus on teaching practice drills, coaching strategies, precautions and safety measures, promoting character development and good sportsmanship.
