After just their first year in Conference USA, Head Coach Jake Schumann and the entire softball staff has resigned.
Schumann chose to head north to Ole Miss and become an associate head coach with the Rebels staff.
According to the Miami Herald, Schumann chose to leave FIU due to being unable to afford the cost of living in Miami.
The now former assistant coaches Gator Rebhan, Sharon Palma and Kelly Kretsshman also resigned after going 33-20 in their first year at FIU.
It is unknown where the former coaches will be headed.
The loss of Schumann makes him the third head coach to leave FIU in the last year. Kenny Arena left the men’s soccer program for the Los Angeles Galaxy in December of 2013. Track and Field’s Eric Campbell resigned in January.
