University unites for Homecoming game day

The University community has been anticipating the Homecoming game day on Saturday to see the panthers match up against the thundering herd. The day is an all-out celebration with the homecoming parade and the tailgate village that various University groups set up for the day.

The Homecoming parade this year will feature various FIU organizations, floats, the marching band and the Golden Dazzlers.

This year’s parade grand marshal is DJ Irie, an FIU alumnus. The parade begins at 1:45 p.m. in Lot 9 and will end in Tamiami Park, where the tailgate village is set up.

The Tailgate village will be set up by noon and open as soon as the Homecoming parade ends.

Most University groups and organizations are planning to put up their own tailgate within the village.
