The women’s basketball faced the Auburn Tigers on Monday night in the first game of the 30th-Annual Sun & Fun Classic. The Panthers fell to the Tigers by a score of 81-44. The loss drops the Panthers to 2-8 on the season while the Tigers jump to 9-3.

The Panthers were led by junior Destini Fargan and redshirt freshman Kiandre’a Pound. Both players notched ten points. Pound has now scored in double figures in each of the last eight games. Senior Marita Davydova led the Panthers with 12 boards.

Poor shooting was the story of the night for the Panthers. The Panthers shot only 24% from the field while the Tigers shot over 55%. The Panthers also turned the ball over 27 times.

FIU will now wait to face the loser of Tuesday night’s Bowling Green vs Hampton game. The Panthers will face either the Falcons or the Lady Pirates at 6 pm on Wednesday night.
