An 18-year-old female and 19-year-old male were victims of an armed carjacking on 109 Avenue and Southwest Seventh Street on Thursday, Jan. 16.

Sweetwater police were dispatched at 6:45 p.m. and arrived on scene at 7 p.m.

According to reports, both victims had left the Latin American Restaurant on S.W. 24th Street and 107th Avenue and headed northbound towards 10891 S.W. 7th St.

The male was parking his car along the roadside on Southwest 7th Street when, according to reports, he noticed a car slowly pass him.

After exiting his vehicle he was approached by a black male holding a black, long-barreled revolver, who ordered the 19-year-old male to sit and not attempt to run or make a move at the risk of getting shot.

The narrative then states that the 18-year-old female opened the door to a Mercedes Benz she was sitting in to then be confronted by a second attacker.

The second attacker also held a long-barreled revolver and told the female to leave her belongings—a laptop, purse and cell phone—inside the car.

A third suspect was at the wheel of a dark, four-door newer model Infiniti, possibly a G35 or G37 model. The vehicle was reported to also have upgraded chrome rims, high intensity discharge (HID) headlights and possibly a black roof.

Both armed suspects entered the Mercedes Benz while the third suspect, who never exited the vehicle, turned the vehicle around to follow the Mercedes.

The victim observed the carjackers head west on S.W. 7th Street and then South on 109 Avenue.

No other evidence was collected or witnesses interviewed.
