The President of the United States will be making an appearance at the University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus on Wednesday, Feb. 25, for a town hall meeting concerning immigration reform.

Hosted by news anchor Jose Diaz Balart, the event will be organized by MSNBC and Telemundo.

Students are advised to make arrangements for parking, as certain parking lots and entrances will be closed.

Parking lot 3 near the Barnes and Noble bookstore, along with lots 33 and 35 near the Graham Center and AHC-I will be closed at 11 p.m. today, Feb. 24, through 5 p.m. on Feb. 25. Alternative parking spaces may be found in both PG5 and PG6, according to a University-wide email from External Relations.

In addition, the campus entrance on 107th Ave. and 16th Street, as well as a portion of Campus Drive north of the entrance, will be closed for intervals of time on Wednesday afternoon.

Students are asked to use the entrances off 8th Street as alternates.

The Golden Panther Express, along with the CATS Shuttle stops, will be relocated from the area near the bookstore to the area east of PG5 all day on Wednesday.

The Fresh Food Company will be closed temporarily from 10:30 a.m. to noon. When it reopens, security procedures will be conducted for the rest of the day to inspect students’ bags.

For those unable to attend, MSNBC and Telemundo will stream the event live for University faculty, staff and students. The viewing room for the event will be located in Graham Center Room 140, with the event starting around 3 p.m.

Seating will be on a first come first served basis.

The event will air on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Channel 51 and Telemundo, and at 8 p.m. on MSNBC.

As a result of the President’s visit, the Faculty Club lounge in the MMC’s Graham Center will be closed, according to a memorandum sent by Provost Kenneth G. Furton to University faculty and staff.
