This Saturday, Little Haiti’s freshest face, & Gallery, will be hosting its third pop-up showcase of 2015: Hecho en Miami.

Founded in 2014 by local innovators Annie Berkowitz and Jordan Trachtenberg, & Gallery has already made waves with its inside-out approach to promoting Little Haiti’s lush culture and an impressive line-up of exhibitions including last month’s Ganymede Shore – a Hubble photo-inspired mixed-media series by California artist Sri Prabha.

This weekend, & brings its focus back from the stars and down to earth for Hecho en Miami – the gallery’s contribution to a local art scene that has been flourishing on walls and canvas for some time, but until recently hasn’t provided a strong platform for local artisans – those that craft their art by hand into beautiful, yet functional pieces. Hecho en Miami will feature several artists with hand-crafted metal and stone-work jewelry, accessories, pottery, prints, and more on display and for sale.

Among the features will be Miami’s own Gabrielle Baez, an artist of many talents who will be showcasing a selection of her unique jewelry that is at once ornate and minimal in design – a dichotomy that must be seen to be truly appreciated.

Another must-see will be the emerging pottery company Bijou Bonsai. Founded earlier this year by Tomas Rovea and Khian Le, two local artists with green-thumbs and business know-how, Bijou has already garnered a lot of attention with their organic designs and uncanny ability to extract art from nature.

Other artisans include local artisan heavyweights Ahol Jewlery, as well as Deon Rubi, Loren Santiesteban, Carolina Sardi, Deming King Harriman, David Gary Lloyd, and Xio/Kat. Mimi’s Garden will also be present, selling fresh fruits and vegetables.

With a variety of home-grown talents taking on a variety of mediums, Hecho en Miami will have something for everybody. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event and stay tuned into & Gallery‘s upcoming shows and programming throughout the year.

Hecho en Miami takes place this Saturday, May 16th from 3pm – 9pm at & Gallery, located at 6306 NW 2nd Ave Miami, FL 33150. For more information, check out &’s website: www.andgallery.net
