The verbal commits keeps on coming and coming and football season hasn’t started yet. This will be
FIU’s nineth verbal commit in the recruitment class of 2016. This latest commit is an interesting one.
Jadarius Byrd, from Jacksonville, Florida, played all three years at Ed H. White High School in
Jacksonville.  But the starting cornerback will be playing his final season at Cedar Creek Christian, which is also located in Jacksonville.

Byrd originally committed to Oregon State  for a while until he switched to FIU just recently. On his
twitter page  he confirmed his decommittment to Oregon State  through text message to the Pac-12
school saying: “I would like thank Oregon State’s coaches and fans for all the love, but I will be de-
committing and committing to Florida International University. #GoPanthers.” It’s safe to say that he
probably wanted to stay closer to home since FIU is only five hours away from Jacksonville.
Jadarius Byrd, at 5’8 155 lbs, is a very aggressive corner. His press coverage skills is top-notch elite and  can interrupt a receiver’s route before making their first step; catching them off guard and off balance. Byrd also as a defensive back, will refuse to let any receiver pass him or go over top of him.

He’s the type of corner that  doesn’t need safety help during the passing game. Fans will also love him on special teams because he’s not afraid to take out any player by laying them out that stands in his way. This head hunting term is called “crack back.”

Byrd will be the third commit to come out of Jacksonville, Florida. Doug and Dallas Connell are the other two. He will be making his visit to the campus on the 25th of July.
