Campus parking update

Written by: Camila Fernandez/News Director

Changes to FIU’s Parking and Transportation services have been announced for the fall.

The Golden Panther Express shuttle service between the Modesto A. Maidique Campus and the Biscayne Bay Campus will now depart every 30 minutes Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an additional departure at 10:45 p.m. The shuttle will depart on Fridays from  6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every thirty minutes, with additional departures at 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.

Starting July 1, physical decals have been replaced with virtual parking permits linked to the vehicle’s license plate. New students must register their vehicle online at the Parking and Transportation’s website. Returning students with a decal for the 14-15 academic year will have their virtual permit automatically renewed.

To help alleviate traffic, temporary parking spaces will be provided during the first two weeks of school at Tamiami Park (east of the Stadium) and on the northeast corner of campus to the east of Parking Garage Five.

There will be additional Panther Movers and shuttle services during peak hours from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Shuttle services stop at Parking Garage Three, Primera Casa building, Tamiami Park, the School of International and Public Affairs building, Parking Garage Five and the Graham Center building.
There will be extra police officers and public safety technicians directing traffic at the intersections and inside campus.
