Summer Movie Review: Ant-Man

Contributing Writer: Joseph Cardenas

Paul Rudd took the role of Scott Lang, our underdog who put on a super suit and can then shrink to the size of an ant. Much more than this, Ant-Man also has superhuman strength when at his small stature and can use his size to be virtually undetectable. On paper this sounds like an incredibly lame power but on the big screen this was actually wickedly stunning to watch in a battle sequence. In the long catalog of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, “Ant-Man” definitely leaves a good mark, especially considering that in the comic universe Ant-Man is one of the original Avengers.

You can tell through its production, that the writers and filmmakers wanted to respect a very old property but still give it a fresh design. It’s a very well-balanced movie, probably one of the more well executed Marvel movies. It also brought a lot of great acting talent to the table. “Ant Man” is a great addition to Marvel’s cinematic catalog, and an A+ addition to its list of super heroes. It’s exciting, seeing what its potential to the Marvel franchise could be and where it’ll fit as it continues to grow as its own franchise.

All in all 5/5
