Parhelion: A bright spot in the sky appearing on either side of the sun.

Sunghosts, a local band from Kendall, is set to release their new EP “Parhelion” December 29 and the light produced by this band will leave you blinded.

The boys have kindly let WRGP get a sneak preview and it completely lives up to the expectations of this energetic band.  The EP is a preview of a 14 song album that’s currently in the works. Tune in to WRGP at 4pm Eastern Time to hear the band talk about their new EP.

On it, fans can find a reimagined recording of “Til the City Goes Under”, which was on their debut EP “Phosphenes” but it’s now livelier and resembles what the band is capable of performing in person. The lyrical composition for this track is very potent, not only does it describe the ever-changing music scene in Miami but also it describes the different components that keep it alive. It’s no wonder why this song was the most popular from their first EP and this new recording finally does it justice.

The bands love for “Til the City Goes Under” doesn’t end here, fans can also expect a new music video for this song soon. “Hydro Pump” is one of the more risqué songs on this EP. It’s a fast paced song that gets all the hearts racing and not just because the lead singer asks you to “get naked.” It’s definitely the right choice for the first song on the EP, as it gets the listener pumped and ready for their world to get rocked.

“Polterguy” the song that the band typically introduces themselves when performing live, is finally out on an EP. “Polterguy” was released as a single earlier this year, but I feel that it flows better as a part of Parhelion. It’s spooky while maintaining the band’s upbeat demeanor. This track will make you want to start wailing on your air guitar while stuck in traffic on 826, so definitely roll down the windows and turn up the volume.

The EP closes with my favorite song “BB Gun ” is the best song choice to wrap up an EP, the melodies in this song are absolutely beautiful. There’s so much emotion in the song, it begins with a girl who can do no wrong and ends with her disappearing right before the narrator’s eyes. The track should be played after a long night so you can sing and scream along for Addie. “BB Gun” is the sun setting for their EP but know that when morning comes Sunghosts will be back with their first full album. In the meantime fans can listen to “Parhelion,” out on December 29th.
