The Panthers went to Boca Raton to face the Florida Atlantic University Owls on Oct. 28, and they were defeated again 0-3, the team’s second loss to the Owls for the season. The team holds an overall record of 8-16, with a 2-8 record in Conference USA play.

The team struggled to score points, making it difficult to gain any sort of momentum and leaving the score at 18-25, 11-25 and 15-25 for all three sets. The Owls thoroughly outplayed the Panthers in every aspect except blocks, where FIU had 10 blocks to FAU’s six. FAU had 59 points to FIU’s 31, 46 kills to FIU’s 20, seven aces to FIU’s one ace, 42 assists to FIU’s 20 and 39 digs to FIU’s 23.

Junior Jennifer Ene finished with seven kills, five blocks on a .462 attack percentage. Senior Katie Hogan had a modest game for her standards, finishing with three kills and eight digs. Redshirt freshman Lina Bernier contributed with five kills, four digs and two blocks.

FIU Volleyball will be back in action next weekend to take on two Texas teams. The Panthers will try and get a win when they take on the 4-19, (2-8 in conference play), UTEP Miners in El Paso on Friday, Nov. 4 at 8:30 p.m. Then, the Panthers will head over to San Antonio to take on the 16-5, (7-2 in conference play), UTSA Roadrunners on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
