Showtimes:

Not Yer Momma’s Disco is on Mondays from noon to 1 p.m.

The Basement Tapes is on Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m.

How did you come up with Not Yer Momma’s Disco?

I named it Not Yer Momma’s Disco as a way for people to know that the show was going to stray from the typical sounds of the disco era. No Bee Gees or any of the top 40 schmaltz.

On that show, I play deep cuts from the disco era. I also focus on funk, R&B, and anything that’s got a nice groove to it. Music for people to dance to.

And “The Basement Tapes?”

The Basement Tapes is a homage to the set of recordings made by Bob Dylan in ’67 with The Band. They were heavily bootlegged at the time since he didn’t release them until ’75. Since the show focuses on samples it all just kinda correlated with the idea of me digging for the samples behind the different hip hop albums.

The show focuses on the samples that go into making a hip hop album. I’ll play the drum break behind a song, or the sample behind a riff that the song may use.

How long have you been at the station?

I’ve been with The Roar since around February of 2016. Used to host a show called all-boy/all-girl which focused on new wave and post punk from late 70s and early ‘80s.

What are some artists that you really dig?

The first band I ever got into was Pink Floyd. I know their discography front and back. A few of my favorite groups include Slum Village, Meat Puppets and Miles Davis’ Second Great Quintet.

Fun Fact: I’ve lived in Italy for 4 months in the summer of 2011.
