I’m so happy summer is finally here. I don’t know if it’s a change in the air, but I feel like opportunity is knocking, and I definitely plan to open the door to it this summer. It feels like I’ve got my life back because for so many years, all I ever did with my time was school work, and if you’re a senior like me, I’m sure you understand what I’m talking about. Thankfully, this summer is going to be super different.
This summer, I’ll be taking a leap of faith into areas of my life that I was too afraid to step into, and I encourage you to do the same. Don’t worry about other people’s judgmental attitudes.
It’s been awhile since finals finished, which means that I’ve gotten most of my sleep back. Instead of waking up at noon and laying on the couch watching television, I’m making plans to pursue my dreams. This includes going on a road trip to California, going on a cruise to the Bahamas and flying to Jamaica to visit my family.
What can be more fun than living the life you want?
I’d like to let all of you know that life happens wherever you are. You don’t have to go to different countries or have all the money in the world to have the best summer, but if you know that there’s something you really want to do, just do it!
Most of my summer will be dedicated to me stepping out of my comfort zone and taking chances. As of right now, I’m job hunting so I’ll have enough money to pay for vocal, piano and dance lessons. These things have been a personal interest of mine ever since I was little, but I was mocked by friends laughing behind my back who were saying things like, “She can’t do it.”
I know life can get busy and friends can get tiring, but try and make this summer a time to take chances and have fun. This summer, focus on you. Even if you have summer classes and work, never forget that it’s your life. You write your own journey and your own happiness.
