FIUPD orders evacuation of Blue Garage

UPDATE 11/2/17 7:32 p.m.:

University has given the “all clear.” Normal activities may resume.

UPDATE 11/2/17 5:39 p.m:

FIUPD Chief Alexander Casas has confirmed to Student Media in an email that there is a bomb threat at the Blue Garage.

“We are working an explosive alert in the blue garage. While conducting an investigation our K9 alerted on a vehicle in the garage. We are clearing the vehicle and evacuating the building as a precaution,” Casas said in an email to Student Media.

The Miami-Dade Department bomb squad is at the scene, according to NBC6. Channel 7 is also reporting that Homeland Security is responding to the threat as well.

11/2/17 4:28 p.m.:

An evacuation alert for the Blue Garage was sent out Thursday, Nov. 2 in the afternoon by University Police.

FIUPD is asking everyone to stay away from the garage until further notice.

At this time, FIUPD is not releasing any information but said that there is police activity and it is an “active investigation.”
