The spirit of homecoming is the stress reliever we need

Rina Factor/ Contributing Writer

Most students at FIU either work on or off campus in addition to their busy academic schedules. Some students are so busy that they choose to take online classes so that they can manage work and class. For some, the only time to socialize consists of the few minutes before class or group projects.

To better facilitate a community and cultivate a Panther pride culture, FIU made homecoming a tradition that brings students together every year. Homecoming is vital to our school spirit because it brings the campus together through the various celebratory activities and events.

Since FIU is a commuter school, homecoming serves as a uniting force that builds school spirit and helps students connect with one another. It’s a time for students living on and off campus to celebrate the upcoming football game, relax, and enjoy festivities that might be difficult to enjoy during the normal busy school schedule.

With the rallies, concerts, and parades, students are given a tradition to look forward to every year at FIU. The Panthermonium concert, the comedy show with Jay Pharaoh and the Haunted Masquerade, were all festivities that cultivated school spirit to unite the entire campus.

Homecoming is also a great opportunity for students to socialize more. With all the events going on, you can bond with your fellow students over the excitement that homecoming generates. The event generates excitement by making school more than just a place to get your work done and leave.

Homecoming is a tradition that facilitates an academic environment where students are encouraged to engage in school spirit activities and contribute to building a greater sense of community and Panther pride. It gives students an outlet to socialize and become more involved with the on campus activities.
