Students participate in 28th annual Walk on Water event

The Department of Architecture hosted its 28th annual Walk on Water competition on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the MMC Green Lake.

Students designed and constructed “shoes” which would allow them to walk across the lake. FIU students and external students from other state colleges and universities participated in two races. 40 FIU students and external students from the University of Florida, Palm Beach State College, Florida State University and Mexico participated in the races.

FIU Architecture students Juan Vega and Ana Moreno won first place and broke the event’s previous record, finishing the race in one minute and two seconds — one second faster than the old record — winning $2,000.
