Phi Sigma Sigma welcomes fall fashions in presentation

By Joseph Geballa

The ladies of Phi Sigma Sigma hosted their 16th annual fashion show Monday night.

The show is not only to entertain and inspire through fashion but to celebrate and remember the “fallen angel” Janelle; a member of Phi Sigma Sigma who passed away from Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

“For over 10 years, the Delta Kappa Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma, at Florida International University, has hosted the annual charity fashion show in name of our fallen sister, Janelle Bertot. Along with the FIU community, and Janelle’s Wishing Well Foundation, we raised over $10,000 for in efforts to continue spreading awareness on the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning,” according to Vimeo.com.

As a slideshow of Janelle’s fondest memories with family and the girls of Phi Sigma Sigma played, guests were touched and reminded how important it is to take care of yourself, live every day as if it’s your last, and keep those you love closest to you; in Janelle’s case it would be her family and her sorority sisters.

Entering the GC Ballrooms, guests were greeted with a charming and intimate stage display which featured plenty of pretty mood lighting and white drapes that encompassed above and around the stage.

While waiting for the show to begin, catering and great food was available to enjoy while you sit and listen to the posh playlist presented.

As the show began, the audience was greeted by two hosts giving everyone an insight of what to look forward to in the presentation. Opening up the show, dancers came up to the stage to perform a medley of hits that got the crowd ready to see the looks. As the lights went down, the models went up to strut and present looks categorizing from athleisure to beach attire and wedding apparel to casual fall fashions.

The models ranged in many different types of personal styles, ethnicities and each one brought a different energy to their look and to the show. Looks came from popular brands like PINK to up and coming local companies like Brides of Florida.

After the touching tribute, the night continued with the looks and soon came to a grand close. All around the venue were vendors of the companies displayed and some similar looks as well, this gave the guests a chance to take their favorite look onstage back home.

Being a student organization, plenty understand how challenging it is to maintain anything outside of the busy schedule that is school, so we must give it up for the ladies of Phi Sigma Sigma for putting on a fabulous show in the midst of the mid-semester nightmare. They surely entertained and enlightened those who attended.
