Communications agency teaches students how to be bold

Students and faculty of the School of Communication and Journalism run a communications agency called “BOLD.” This program focuses on strategic campaigns that connect consumers to the client’s brand and raise its profile.

“The club’s overall goal is to give student real-life experience, so after we graduate, we are prepared,” said Martha Perez, account executive of the organization. “We work with real clients. We have a variety of majors — some do advertising, public relations, marketing, journalism or graphic designing. Everyone has a different talent to offer and that’s what makes BOLD so great.”

Bold’s mission is to strive to deliver unique and personalized communication plans that embrace the company’s vision and goals while building strong relationships with clients. By doing so, the students and faculty in the program rely on Bold’s values.

Perez says the organization has made her grow exponentially, leading her to the connections and skills to exceed in her career field.

“As account executive of Bold, I deal with the clubs social media and branding. I have a team that comes up with content,” said Perez. “We try to make content that will allow us to engage with our followers.”

Creating trusting relationships with clients is the forefront of the planning process. Bold members learn their client’s company, vision, and tactically meet client’s business goals.

Bold achieves success for their clients through ingenious promotional services. Building the client’s brand via social media is vital in positioning the client as a leader in their industry. Creative advertising is also crucial in propelling positive business and striking content gets clients noticed.

“We have speakers that are already in the field that give us advice. We also find opportunity to ask questions and actually get to talk to them one-on-one and have that networking experience,” said Perez.

Bold also holds value in qualitative and quantitative data to further progress comprehensive results.  The main goal of Bold is generating a buzz and awareness regarding a client’s brand by executing strategic research methods that maximize the client’s goals and results.

“I found out about Bold agency because last year when they went to New York City for spring break, they took over FIU’s Instagram,” said Perez. “Before I even came to FIU, I knew I wanted to be part of Bold. I kind of just dove in.”

“Overall, we want to teach students that sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone and #BeBold,” said Perez.
