Michelle Marchante/Editor in Chief
We hope you’ve had a great summer and are now ready to buckle up, grab your pencils and start studying.
Student Media had to say goodbye this summer to our Assistant Director Alfredo Soto as he’s taken on a new position as a visiting professor for FIU’s Department of Communication.
Soto was once Editor of Student Media back when it was called The Beacon, and has been a constant presence here for many years. We wish him all the best in this next chapter of his life.
We are also now halfway through Week of Welcome, but if you’re still looking for Instaworthy events to attend at the Modesto Maidique or Biscayne Bay campuses, visit pages 4 and 5 to check out our WOW calendar.
Now that school is in session, you might also be hearing talks about new food options coming to the University. Well, it’s true, but if you really want to learn what’s staying and what’s going, then make sure you head on over to page 2.
We also have some new updates regarding the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation on the collapse of the University’s pedestrian bridge, which can be found on page 3. Student Media also has new footage of the collapse, which you can see by visiting PantherNOW.com or by scanning the QR code below.
School can be busy and stressful at times, but one of our columnists has a few tips to help make this semester a breeze. And for those of you who recently changed your major or are still undecided, make sure you visit page 8 to learn how Keunta Miles, assistant coach for Women’s basketball, found her calling.
Good luck this semester and make sure to take us along for the ride.
