Residents of Bayview housing at the Biscayne Bay Campus saw something very strange outside of their windows, and they weren’t horsing around.

On Saturday, Nov. 17, a horse was sighted with its handler near the Kovens center at BBC. The animal was there from the morning until after sundown, leaving many students confused.

“I thought there was a petting zoo on campus or a crazy person walking around with a horse,” said Alain Milord, a hospitality student living in Bayview.

Whereas some witnesses spotted it during the day, other residents of Bayview saw the animal as soon as they woke up.

“I first noticed the horse at 10 a.m. and last time I checked for it the time was around 6 p.m. My roommate woke me up screaming tears of joy and confusion at the horse’s appearance,” said LaJayah Blain, a junior majoring in psychology.

Tiffany Penda, the events coordinator for the Kovens Center, confirmed to Student Media that the horse was on campus for the observation of a wedding.

An Indian wedding was taking place at BBC all day on Saturday, and the horse was meant for the groom to ride in on for the celebration, according to Penda.

“I figured there must have been some kind of event because the horse didn’t look wild. He had on a saddle and was accompanied by a person watching over him,” Blain said.
