Burglar steals $15,000 worth of electronics

$15,000 worth of electronics have been stolen from the University, and police are still searching for the suspect.

An unknown suspect was seen stealing property from Primera Casa on the Modesto Maidique Campus on Wednesday March, 6.

The FIU police was able to capture a video of the suspect stealing over $15,000 worth of electronics and then proceeding to place it in the trunk of a black Mercedes driven by an unknown male.

Before the suspect is seen stealing the electronics, he’s seen scouting the area under video surveillance according to FIU Police Captain Delrish Moss.

“What we’re asking for is the public or anybody’s help who recognizes this guy because we need to talk to him,” said Moss.

The robberies date back to February 2019, but the police are only now asking the public for help in finding the perpetrator because they have not been able to locate him, according to FIUPD Chief Alexander Casas.

The suspect is not considered faculty or a student at the University, according to Moss.

Stolen items included five DELL Latitude laptops, two Apple Macbook laptops, a Microsoft Surface and two bookbags, among others.
