The fifth annual Bayfest music festival, hosted by the Student Programming Council at the Biscayne Bay Campus, comes back to BBC on Saturday, April 6, with headliners Rick Ross, Spice, Harmonik and Flokid.

For Cristella Figueroa, vice president of SPC and senior majoring in biology, it’s her second time planning Bayfest.

“Students can expect a Roaring 1920s theme throughout the event,” said Figueroa in an interview with Student Media. “Students can also expect many activities, so they should definitely get there early to enjoy them.”

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., concert goers can start enjoying music by listening to the local acts. Then there will be a DJ showdown till the headliners take the stage at 7 p.m.

Kayaking, a photo booth, game truck and bubble balls are some of the activities that can be enjoyed throughout the music festival

“We’ve been planning Bayfest for a little over a year now… We chose the lineup based on surveys that we conducted, as well as student feedback. The artists we chose also represent different genres of music,” said Figueroa.

Black Entertainment Television and Grammy nominated Rick Ross is no stranger to Miami. With 10 studio albums and multiple collaborations, the rapper’s song “Hustlin’” earned gold status from the RIAA. Grace Hamilton, also known as Spice and the “Queen of Dancehall,” upcoming artist FloKid and Haitian band Harmonik will also be taking the stage.
