Softball team strikes out against North Texas University in weekend match-up.

In the softball team lost to North Texas University in their weekend match-ups; Saturday, March 30, double header left the Panthers losing both games (0-7 and 0-3). Sunday was another disappointing loss for FIU with a 4-13 score.

This leaves the Panthers with an overall record of 18-18 and a conference record of 0-9.

The start of the first game in Saturday’s double-header event was rough for the Panthers. The Mean Green took a quick lead right at the start.

In the top of the fourth, North Texas extended their lead against the Panthers and took control of the game with three hits and three runs coming into score putting the lead at 6-0.

FIU couldn’t get a single hit throughout the first game, until outfielder Alexis Johns hit a single to a Mean Green shortstop in the fifth inning.

The Panthers failed to score one point throughout the first match, ending the first game of the double-header with a 7-0 score.

In the second game of the day, the Panthers continued to fall behind the Mean Green.

FIU got one hit in the bottom of the third and in the bottom of the fourth those would be the only two hits that in this game not being able to score a run.

On the other side of the field the North Texas Mean Green ended the game with eight hits including a home run in the top of the forth by junior pitcher/infielder Jenna Goodrich.

The game ended with a final score of 3-0 as North Texas win both games in the double header.

In Sunday’s match up, FIU played better against North Texas. However, failed to win this game over the weekend. The Mean Green took full control of the game in the end 13-4.

After striking out over the weekend, FIU takes on Florida Atlantic University on Saturday, April 6 in Boca.
