FIU Swimming And Diving Rebound Heading into TYR Classic

FIU Swimming and Diving rebounded after their loss to the University of Florida with a win over the University of Miami Saturday, Sep. 28th.

The Panthers won the meet with a total score of 169-131 and look to be back to their championship ways heading into the TYR Fall Classic this weekend.

Junior Stephanie Hussey looks to continue to her winning ways heading into this home tournament. Hussey came away from the meet against UM with her first two wins of the season in the 1000m free and 500m free events.

Lamija Medosevic, the freshman from Sarajevo, Bosnia, secured three wins in the 50m free, 100m free and 200m free. Medosevic hopes to keep that momentum going heading into this weekend’s tournament and solidify herself as one of the Panther’s top swimmers.

The Panthers have the luxury of competing at home through November and they hope to gain some momentum in their first big tournament of the year.

The TYR Fall Classic will bring TCU, LSU, FAU, Army, Pittsburgh, GW, Grand Canyon, and Keiser to North Miami for a two-day tournament.

This will be the Panther’s first big test of the season and they hope to start it off on the right foot. Sophmore Maha Gouda and Junior Rachel Foord will continue to lead the pack for diving. While Hussey and Medosevic continue to stand out inside the pool.

Catch the Panthers in the TYR Classic Friday, Oct. 4th and Saturday, Oct. 5th at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
