FIU Men’s Soccer kept their undefeated season alive with a 2-0 win against the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Senior Midfielder Alban Rousselet was the lone scorer for the Panthers with his two goals on three shots.
Freshman Stephen Afrifa continues to attack opposing defenses with 4 shots on goal in the game.
The Panthers will be making their way to Akron this weekend to take on the Akron Zippers who currently sit at 0-7.
The Panthers have been rolling to start the season. Currently sitting at 16 on the NCAA rankings, the Panthers have the second-highest scoring offense in the country by a large margin.
The Panthers have continued to play as a team and passing the ball with effectiveness. The Panthers are second in the nation in assists with 27 on the year, averaging 3.8 assists a game.
“We like to keep the ball…Being able to play out the back and possess the ball for most of the game is something I really enjoy” said Senior defender Nick O’Callaghan.
The matchup against the Zippers should be no problem for the Panthers. Akron has scored a total of 9 goals on the season, in comparison to FIU’s 29.
The Panther’s defense has been stout as well, only allowing eight goals through nine games this season.
With solid play on both sides of the field, the Panthers hope to come out of this weekend still undefeated.
The Panthers are in the midst of a four-game road stand and will be back home against Charlotte Friday, Oct. 18th.
