The Department of Children and Families is running online ADHD webinars to provide tips and information for parents with ADHD teens.

The sessions cover varied topics such as what causes ADHD, how parents can help their teens, and what resources are available to them.

Dr. Carmen Baressi, Clinician and advocate of the ADHD Webinars, says the webinars are being performed online so parents can access the information and resources in a convenient way.

Dr. Baressi also added that the webinars are designed specifically for parents. They inform parents of the Department as a whole and the services it offers to any ADHD child that is under the age of 18, such as the ATLAS Project.

The ATLAS Project is a program that teaches adaptive skills to kids from the ages of 12 to 16 with ADHD. The program is completely free to any eligible child and covers a wide range of topics that developing children usually face.

Some topics that the ATLAS Project covers are:

  • Self-Esteem
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Problem Solving
  • Peer Pressure
  • Goal Setting

“Despite the webinars being broad, parents leave feeling encouraged,” said Dr. Baressi. “They’re encouraged to seek the services we offer.”

The first webinar session was held November 19th and two more will be held on Dec. 10 and 11 at 9 a.m.
