SPC Hosts Virtual Trivia Night

If one thing is reliable during this time in history, it’s the Student Programming Council at FIU. From Fortnite to Super Smash Bros tournaments, online health seminars and comedians, SPC is turning this quarantine into interactive online fun for students.

SPC hosted an online trivia game on Apr. 6 through Zoom for all to join. \

Through their Instagram, @fiuspc, a link was uploaded to join the fun, and an Instagram Livestream was also headed to encourage those who were not able to participate through Zoom to join in the fun.

Hosted by newly elected 2020-21 president, Natalie Lamas, and her co-host, Nikolas Lam, players were encouraged to join Kahoot and participate.

The game had 33 players in the Kahoot, and even more watching the livestream from an audience perspective.

Before commencing, Lamas gave the rules of the game and welcomed all students to join in this 30-45 minute, 70 question trivia game.

The main category, General Knowledge, prompted a wide range of questions from ‘Name that Netflix Show’ to ‘Famous Celebrity Deaths,’ ‘Anatomy’, ‘Mathematics’, ‘Currency’, ‘Zoology’, and ‘Geography.’

With the catchy, famous tune of Kahoot, the hosts both gave words of encouragement and welcomed comical comments relating to the game from the players and audience.

Freshman Pre-dental student, Taimy Sanchez discussed how she learned about the trivia through an email she received.

When asked whether she would like to see more events like these being held during quarantine, she said, “I would be very interested in that and would participate.”

The SPC held Trivia Game was an overall success and it is safe to say that this new 2020-2021 council is making FIU students’ isolation experience a little more comforting.
