The Fourth of July is just around the corner and that means it is almost time to celebrate. As the world is under a global pandemic, most people are staying home and avoiding any form of social gathering. Although options may seem limited, there are many fun things to do to keep the spirit of the Fourth of July alive. Here are some ways you can celebrate America’s birthday.

Decorate Your Home in the Spirit of the Fourth.

One of the best activities for celebrating Independence Day at home is to put up some fun decorations. Grab some American flags and banners and put them all around your house. If you don’t know where to buy some fitting décor, visit Amazon and glance at some of the neat stuff that’s available. However, if you want to make the day much more exciting, you can also make some at home.

Create Independence Day Crafts.

Doing crafts at home can certainly help pass the time during this pandemic. Not only is it fun, but it can also be a form of celebration. You can create many fun crafts such as American flag themed fabric-wrapper wreaths, star-spangled slime, tie-dye shirts, or fun masks.

Decorate Yourself in The Spirit of The 4th of July

Nothing else can make you feel more American than dressing in your country’s colors, so why not dress in your sunday-best? Suit up and represent the ‘States with a snazzy  Tuxedo styled in the fashion of the good ol’ stars n’ stripes. Of course, there are many unique ways to wear your nation’s colors. If you’re not the formal type, then a tuxedo shirt will suffice. Accessorizing in red, white, and blue headbands, flower crowns, party ties, sunglasses, and Apple watch bands can also be fun ways to get into the Independence Day spirit.

Bake Some Sweet Treats

You can’t celebrate the Fourth of July without some sweet treats. Instead of buying cupcakes, cookies, or brownies from the supermarket this year, bake them at home. Doing this will not only give you the chance to improve your baking skills, but it’s also a great way to kill time and bond with your family and country.

Have a Picnic in Your Backyard

If there’s one thing that can always be done at home, it’s barbecuing meat. But since we’re spending most, if not all of our time at home nowadays, there’s no shame in trying anything new. And this year’s upcoming Independence Day provides an opportunity to celebrate it in a different way, but still involving food: a picnic. A fun way to stay at home, while being outdoors safely with your family. Make sure to pack some great American staples, such as burgers and hotdogs, and celebrate the only way an American knows: with mass consumption.

Have a Zoom Dance Party

Having a real party during a pandemic isn’t such a good idea. Instead, hold a virtual one! While using zoom, you can hold your very own dance party with friends while maintaining a safe distance from one another. You can use apps such as JQBX, we:fm, and Vertigo to listen to music in sync with each other. Play some of the greatest patriotic tracks such as Miley Cyrus’ bouncy and energetic, “Party in the U.S.A” or Bruce Springsteen’s classic anthem “Born in the U.S.A.”

Relax in The Pool

If you have a pool in your backyard, then the Fourth of July is the perfect time to dive in and use it. Take a cold, refreshing swim in the blistering Summer heat. Make your time memorable and Instagram-worthy by swimming like a true patriot with floaties, tubes. and beach balls adorned with the familiar colors of the stars and stripes. Keep your drinks afloat with an array of beverage boats that will survive the most epic of water fights and cannon balls.

Capitalize on your Cocktail Skills

Let’s not sugar-coat the rim of this margarita glass, 2020 has not been kind. Most of the time, we push ourselves to drink out of stress or despair rather than celebration. Make this Independence Day an exception, find yourself an online cocktail recipe and construct yourself a tasty, refreshing alcoholic beverage in honor of Uncle Sam. Just be sure to drink responsibly, and you’ll have yourself a good time during this bad, bad year.

Enjoy the Finest American Classics You Can Watch

Independence Day is a celebration of our nation’s culture as it is for our history and heritage. If you’re not outgoing or just aren’t interested in wildly celebrating the 4th, then celebrate in a comfier way. Dim the lights, close the curtains and indulge yourself with the finest films to grace the silver screens. Watch classics like “Casablanca” or “The Godfather” or maybe enjoy some of the most patriotic motion pictures like “Rocky” or “Saving Private Ryan.” Whether on TV, streamed or available in your home media, kill the time and treat yourself to those all-American, all-time classics.
