Students Report Unfinished and Dirty Rooms At The One Apartments

FIU students were surprised by unfinished construction, bad wifi, and trash in their new apartments called The One at University City.

Some have taken to Instagram to share their complaints.

Photos posted on an expose account show stained bathtubs, unpainted concrete walls and ceilings, and missing ceiling panels.

In one photo, a light dangles from a wire, exposing electrical circuitry. In another, the wall behind a faucet is cracked.

Multiple students say their doors don’t close, putting them in danger.

Students have reported seeing rats in their rooms, along with dirty clothes, empty bottles, and pizza boxes under their beds.

According to a post by the account’s admin, a previous expose account was quickly deleted, due to accusations of hate speech.

“We are sharing testimonies of true residents who are frustrated due to the lack of answers of the apartment complex,” the post says.

The One is aware of the situation. They commented on the post, saying the problems are “not major.”

“These are normal wear and tear, small maintenance issues, and cleaning assignments,” the comment reads.

The One explained the building is unfinished because it opened two weeks prior to their grand opening day.
