The FIU COVID-19 dashboard hasn’t been updated with lasts week’s newly reported cases, as of 1 p.m. today.
Previously, the dashboard was updated every Monday at noon with self-reported cases the previous week.
COVID-19 cases reflected on the dashboard are self-reported by students and faculty through the Student Affairs and Human Resources division.
The dashboard divides newly reported cases into students learning on-campus and remotely and professors teaching face-to-face or online classes.
PantherNOW reported on the weekly cases every Monday around noon. Last week’s cases were updated on Tuesday due to Labor Day.
Initial self-reported cases were updated on the dashboard at the start of August. Cases have been reported ever since, on a weekly basis.
In three weeks, a total of 43 students and 15 faculty self-reported having the virus to the university from August 17 to September 3. Of the total students
cases, 31 live on campus and 5 professors teach face-to-face classes.
In The first COVID-19 update, 10 students and four professors self-reported testing positive for the virus from Aug.17 to Aug.23.
The following week, from Aug.24 through Aug.31, the number of new cases doubled with 26 students who tested positive and seven professors who also contracted the virus.
The last weekly update reported seven students and four faculty members who tested positive for COVID-19 the first week of September.
According to the dashboard’s website, cases are updated by the FIU COVID-19 Response Team every Monday throughout the day.
“This page is updated once a week on Monday or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday,” says the dashboards website.
