FIU had eight new COVID-19 cases last week, according to the FIU COVID-19 dashboard
Six students and two faculty or staff members self-reported having the virus to the university the week of Sep. 23 through Oct.4.
The dashboard divides COVID-19 cases into four categories; students living or learning on campus, students learning remotely, faculty/staff working on campus, or working remotely.
The FIU Dashboard only reflects cases self-reported by students and faculty to the Student Affairs and Human Resources divisions or the FIU COVID-19 Response Team.
Five of the student cases reported last week were of students living on campus, the remaining case was a student learning remotely.
The two faculty or staff members who self-reported to the university are working remotely. For the second week in a row, no new COVID-19 cases have been reported for faculty or staff working on campus. Faculty and staff are returning to campus this week.
Since the start of the fall semester, six weeks ago a total of 91 cases have been self-reported to the university.
Of the 66 student cases, 34 live or study on campus. Eight of the 25 faculty cases are professors who work on campus.
The dashboard is updated every Monday by the FIU Covid-19 Response Team.
