While in light of the pandemic, it may not be wise to trick-or-treat or attend costume parties, there’s still plenty to do for the upcoming All Hallow’s Eve. For those who have no idea what to do to get themselves into the haunting spirit this Halloween, we’ve got you covered.
Here is a list of ideas and activities to do to celebrate the annual day.
- Carve and Decorate Pumpkins With The Family
Perhaps the best activity for Halloween is already done at home. Get into the spooky spirit with your family or friends, some carving tools, and a pumpkin or two. Decorate to your heart’s desires and if you’re in need of an artist’s touch, check out Pinterest for some delightfully creepy designs.
2. Participate in a Virtual Escape Room
Test your luck at home by taking part in some virtual escape rooms. Have your friends join in on the adventure through Zoom to solve mysteries together. FIU’s Student Programming Council will be hosting its very own virtual escape room titled “THRILLER.” Participants must register and reserve a room to take part in the event. For other virtual escape rooms, here is a list of virtual escape rooms that will have you becoming an expert detective in no time.
3. Watch Halloween TV Shows and Movies
Snuggle up with your favorite spooky blanket, grab some popcorn, and get to viewing some fantastic Halloween movies. Netflix just released a series of new Halloween movies, ranging from thriller series “The Haunting of Bly Manor” to the new film “Hubie Halloween,” featuring renowned actor Adam Sandler. If you’re looking for some Halloween childhood classics, subscribe to Disney+ and watch all of your favorite Disney Halloween films, such as the “Halloweentown” series, “Hocus Pocus” or “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Bring your family together to watch these incredible films or watch with friends on Netflix Party or Disney’s Group Watch.
4. Host a Virtual Costume Party
Take advantage of Zoom and FaceTime and host your own virtual costume party. Go all out and dress up in your best costume. Whoever you may be, make sure to add fun accessories and some fitting make-up to bring your outfit to life. Once your costume has been assembled, call up your closest friends and show it off! To make things a little more interesting, you can turn the virtual party into a costume contest. The winner will have the title for the best costume all-around, along with some bragging rights.
5. Go to a Drive-Thru Halloween Event
Going on fun and scary Halloween adventures are still possible during this pandemic. In place of walk-through adventures are drive-through events. Visitors can sit in the comfort of their own cars while celebrating the incredible spooky season. Those looking for some great jump scares should go to South Florida’s new haunting drive-thru experience “Horrorland.” For a not so scary experience, there is a Not So Spooky Drive-Thru Adventure and Pumpkin Patch in Miami. Minus the horror, children, friends, and family can trick-or-treat without leaving their car seats and can ride through an exclusive pumpkin patch.
6.Decorate Your Home
Nothing screams Halloween more than some epic decorations. Get yourself off the couch and get to decorating! Show how much you love this annual holiday and hang up some wacky decorations. Whether you have an apartment or a house, decorations can bring any home to life. If buying decorations isn’t your preference, then get creative and make some! You can make some insane halloween banners out of yarn and decorative paper, create some spider webs out of paper, and so much more. If you need inspiration, check out Pinterest for all the crazy fun decorations you can make.
