This week kicks-off another series of FIU events, many celebrating the Valentine’s Day holiday. 

This guide features events such as organization meetings, Black History Month educational happenings, and Valentine’s Day celebrations. 

Although the day of love is not until this weekend, FIU has much in store for you. Whether you are celebrating with that special someone, spending time with your closest friends, or cherishing the great love for yourself, you don’t have to stay home and miss out on all of the fun.

SGA Senate Meeting

SGA hosts their weekly senate meeting.

Queer Black & SGL Experiences

Listen to the experiences of those within the 2SLGBTQIA+ and same-gender-loving black community at this event. All students are welcomed to participate and to share some of their own experiences.

Ready to connect with your body in a way that you have never done before? Campus Life invites all students to get in touch with their mental and physical body through sound and rhythmic flow during this soulful event.

Murder Mystery

FIU’s Doctors Without Borders is celebrating the  coming of Valentine’s Day with a special investigation. Make the day of love full of fun by participating in this adventurous event. To attend, there will be a $3 donation fee.

Correctional Reform For Prisoners With Mental and Physical Illnesses and Disabilities

Interested in learning more about correctional reform? In this oSTEM speaker series,  guest speaker Dr. Brie Williams will share in this seminar about correctional reform of prisoners with mental and physical illnesses and disabilities.

Alpha Omicron Pi is hosting a special event for the day of love. They will be offering pre-ordered roses, ring pops, and polaroid pictures while hosting weddings.

The Student Programming Council is hosting a Valentine’s Day event welcomed for couples and singles alike. There will be free food and drinks and some activities guests can participate in, such as DIY tea, flowers, and treats.

Building Healthy Relationships

Douglass Day Transcribe-A-Thon with the Papers of Mary Church Terrell

For Douglass Day and Black History Month, students are welcome to discuss the works of women’s and civil rights activist Mary Church Terrell. Students and educators are welcomed to join in, discuss, and indulge in this historian’s papers during this event.
