The FIU Men’s Basketball team finished their regular season by getting swept against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Panthers lost momentum in the second halves of both games, and lost by scores of 58-91 and 59-71.
FIU finished their regular season with a record of 9-17, and a Conference USA record of 2-15. The Panthers have a 16-game losing streak against C-USA opponents, with their last win dating back to January 9th against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.
Although FIU is ranked dead last out of all 14 teams in C-USA, they will still be eligible for the Conference USA tournament. The conference expanded the tournament so that all teams will have an opportunity to play extra games, and that includes FIU.
In game one of the series, FIU never led the game. WKU dominated by a score of 44-26 at halftime and outscored the Panthers by 15 points in the second half to secure a 91-58 win.
In game two, however, the Panthers were more aggressive on offense during the first half taking a 33-28 lead going into the half. The second half as change of play, the Hilltoppers went on a 33-14 run with 14 minutes to go, winning the game by a score of 71-59.
In the doubleheader, FIU forward Radshad Davis scored 34 points and collected 17 rebounds. Guard Tevin Brewer had 18 points, 12 assists, four rebounds, and two steals.
The C-USA tournament will take place from March 9th to March 13th in Frisco, Texas. The schedule for the tournament will be released by the conference on Saturday, March 6th.
