The FIU Men’s Basketball team is out of the Conference USA Championship in Frisco, Texas, due to COVID-19 protocols within the Panthers.

Conference USA tweeted the announcement yesterday, citing “Tuesday’s Preliminary Round game has been cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing.”.

The matchup against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders was scheduled for Tuesday, March 9th at 8:30pm.

Middle Tennessee will automatically advance to face the North Texas Mean Green in the First Round of the C-USA, while FIU will return to South Florida.

This is now the end of FIU’s disappointing season. Their final overall record is 9-17, and their conference record is 2-15, cementing their place at dead last out of the seven teams of the Eastern Division.
