FIU will be hosting its first in-person graduation ceremony, for the first time since fall of 2019.
FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg announced students will have an in-person, physically distanced outdoor graduation ceremony this spring semester, today in an email.
Graduates from the class of 2020 who had virtual comencement can also participate in the ceremony.
“While ceremonies will be a scaled-back version of our traditional ceremonies to accommodate safety measures, they will be full of Panther spirit,” stated Rosenberg’s email. “Each graduate will receive tickets for three guests, who will see the graduate walk across the stage and turn their tassel.”
The ceremony will be held outdoors at the Ricardo Silva Stadium on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25.
FIU students who graduated in 2020 who want to celebrate an in-person commencement will receive a separate email with details for registration.
Additionaly, commencement caravans will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 30, and Wednesday, Mar. 31.
“We hope our graduates enjoy their celebration, and I thank all those working tirelessly to make this happen for our hard-working students,” read Rosenberg’s email.
