FIU received a short supply of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from the Florida Department of Health to be administered to faculty, staff and student employees who are eligible.

FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg announced today, starting on March.16, faculty, staff and student employees will be able to receive the Pfizer vaccine, following the latest executive order by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“FIU will offer vaccinations for faculty and staff ages 60 and older or those 16 and over with a signed Florida Department of Health form certifying extreme vulnerability,” read Rosenberg’s email.

Student employees who are under 18-years-old must come with a parent or guardian to their vaccination appointment.

Due to limited supplies, the university will offer vaccines only to FIU faculty and staff, including student employees.

Faculty, staff and student employees can now register for an appointment here, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine that will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose three weeks after the first shot, the university is still working on scheduling the supply of the second dose.

“Our goal is to assist our university community in getting vaccinated. We do not know when or if we will receive additional vaccines,” according to Rosenberg.
