At 1:47 p.m. the bell struck, followed by a moment of silence, in honor of the six victims who passed away including FIU student Alexa Duran from the collapse of the FIU pedestrian bridge on March 15.
“It’s just a sad day for the FIU community, we honor the life of Alexa Duran,” said President Mark B. Rosenberg. Alexa’s parents, Gina and Orlando Duran were present at the commemoration.
They gave their appreciation for members who attended. “Thank you for those who are here today in memory of ‘mi hija’ [my daughter],” said Alexa’s father.
