Hey Panthers! With new and returning students heading to campus for the Fall semester, we wanted to offer some great places to eat near both the MMC and BBC campuses. Miami has some of the best food in the world, but who knew that so much of it is this close to campus?

Whether you’re looking for something sweet or savory, or whether you’re in between classes or going out to celebrate the end of the first week, this is definitely the list for you.

Around MMC:

Looking for delicious Pan-Asian cuisine that’s just a walk away from campus? Look no further! Open daily with closing hours ranging from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m, 107 Taste FIU has proven itself to be a true lunch and dinner time staple for FIU students alike. With a menu that includes kimchi at $6, steamed bao buns at $10, and more ramen than you can count ranging from $12.50-$13.50; 107 Taste is truly any foodie’s dream and we can’t wait for our next bowl.

Serving the FIU community for over 12 years, specialTEA is the perfect place for students to recharge with their favorite cup of coffee or tea. Also, not to mention smoothies, boba teas, and frozen crémes that are perfect for those long days of studying in GL. The café is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. except for Sundays when they close up shop early at 8 p.m. Located on Coral Way, just across the street from the fair, their savory menu gives you the option of a panino, salad, wrap, or bowl with ingredients including pesto chicken, coco-curry, and wild buffalo just to name a few. Best part? These can all be substituted with meatless options! All these savory items range from $7.50-$9.50 and your hot cup of tea can be as low as $2.25. Did somebody say lunch date?

It’s clear that FIU students can’t get enough of Pan-Asian cuisine and Jasmine’s Japanese and Thai menu is serving up all the fix-ins. Located just across from campus on 107th and open on Wednesdays to Sundays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m, Jasmine’s serves up a variety of delicious sushi rolls, noodles, pad thai, and a great selection of curry. Sushi rolls range from $7.00 to $13.95 and lunch entrees including pad thai and curry range from $9.25 to $13.25. There is also a Japanese dinner menu ranging from $14.95 to $18.95 for those willing to spend a little bit extra. Our 21+ students can even enjoy a refreshing sake bomb for just $8.00! Located directly across the street from 109 Tower, 109 Burger Joint is a burger lover’s greatest dream. Open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays, 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and midnight on the weekends, they offer up an incredible selection of signature burgers ranging from $11.00 to $16.00. These burgers include the Mac Addict for mac and cheese lovers and the BBQ Blues for fans of barbecue, the options are endless and they don’t stop there. The menu also includes a chicken waffle sandwich for $14.00 and a meatball sub for $13.00 which can all be purchased with a side of crispy tater tots. Meat lovers everywhere rejoice because this is definitely the spot for you.

Open from Sunday-Thursday until 2 a.m. and Friday and Saturday until 3 a.m, Night Owl is the perfect late night bite for any college student looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. With 12 signature cookie flavors including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Birthday Cake, Vegan Chocolate Chip and their famous cookie shot; it truly does not get better than this. Located conveniently on 8th street and with cookie prices ranging from $2.99 to $3.50; Night Owl is a delicious treat for all students that will satisfy cravings and won’t break the bank, even if you decide to buy a whole pack. Are you looking for classic Mexican dishes just like your abuela used to make? We’ve got just the place for you. Located on Biscayne Blvd and open daily with closing hours ranging from 10 p.m. to midnight, Paquito’s is serving up all our favorites on a truly endless menu. With tacos starting at just $4.25 and the enchiladas verdes ranging from $5.50 to $6.50, Paquito’s prices truly can’t be beat. You should also be sure not to miss out on their chiles rellenos at $14.95 and tamales at $12.95 in order to experience Mexican cuisine at its most authentic. Can’t afford that flight to Mexico? Not to worry! Paquito’s has got just what you need.

For those that are craving those 109 Joint Burgers but live by the BBC campus; we got you covered. Open daily from noon to 10 p.m, La Birra Bar is serving up an insane variety of burgers including flavors like Monterrey, Italian, fried onion, and so much more. Despite being on the pricier side with a cheeseburger single starting at $11.99 and a 5.3.2 burger going up to $28.49, La Birra definitely deserves the hype and we hope to see you there really soon snacking on some fries.

You thought we weren’t going to shout out a Cuban place on this list? Come on, this is Miami! Open during the week from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on weekends, Little Havana Restaurant has got all the Cuban classics and then some. With beef and ham and cheese empanadas at just $2.49, Cuban sandwiches at $7.99, and ropa vieja at $8.99, Little Havana Restaurant is not only delicious, but works well with any student’s budget. For the Cubans missing that taste of home, you can find it right on Biscayne Blvd.

Located on NE 163rd St, Korean Kitchen is serving up an incredible variety of classic Korean dishes. Open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and all day Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9:15 p.m, Korean Kitchen offers countless flavors of their signature Bibimbap rice bowls. These include vegetable, spicy squid, and pork bulgogi ranging from $14.00 to $16.25, alongside noodles starting at $14.00 and stews starting at $12.75. If you haven’t ventured into trying Korean cuisine just yet, Korean Kitchen is the perfect place for first-timers looking to expand their palate.

Are you one of those people who could eat mac and cheese for every single meal? We promise that World Famous House of Mac will not disappoint. They are open daily from noon and close at 11 p.m Monday-Saturday and at midnight on Sundays. Located on Biscayne Blvd in Keystone Plaza, they don’t call it “world famous” for no reason. They’ve got some widely unique flavors including pizza, chicken cordon bleu, jerk shrimp, and even a vegan option, just to name a few. These all vary in price with the pizza and chicken cordon bleu mac and cheese at $15, the vegan mac and cheese at $18, and the jerk shrimp at $20. They also offer great pizza, salad, and sandwich options for those not able to handle all that cheese. Not to worry though, we definitely can and we’re looking forward to our next bite!
