FIU will offer the Moderna vaccine starting this Thursday, according to a university-wide email.

The announcement, sent on Tuesday Sept. 7, urged the FIU community to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Please get vaccinated now,” read the email. “While evidence shows that people who are vaccinated can get COVID-19, their symptoms are usually milder.”

Students, faculty and staff are eligible for the vaccine every Thursday at the vaccination site in the Graham Center Piano Lounge of the Modesto Maidique Campus. The site is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. One must bring a photo ID or birth certificate.

Pfizer vaccines are also offered at this site weekly Monday through Thursday.

The Panthers Protecting Panthers website provides additional information on vaccinations and COVID-19 precautions at FIU.

The email recommended frequent testing for COVID-19, especially for those unvaccinated.

“If you are unvaccinated, you are assuming a significant risk to your health,” stated the email.
