Getting into the spirit for Halloween, we rounded up some horror film festivals happening across the nation, including a few selections that allow for virtual attendance!
- FilmGate Festival, Horror Edition
When? Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

As part of their monthly short film festival, FilmGate Miami is offering up some spooky selections for the holiday season! The festival will also include their much loved Percolator, a pre-show segment where patrons can show off their talents. A ticket purchase also allows an in-person attendee a free beer from their brewing partners at Focal!

- 15th Annual Atlanta Horror Film Festival
When? In-Person Events: Friday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 10; Online Screenings: Friday, Oct. 8 through Monday, Oct. 18

Among the plethora of events offered by the Atlanta Film Series comes its 15th annual horror-themed film festival, presenting 16 blocks of shorts and a selection of 20 full-length features to stream! Some highlights include “Bobby Pinwheel” and “The Exortwist” —both animated shorts featured in this year’s opening block.

- Telluride Horror Show
When? Friday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 17
Where? Screenings spread out between the Nugget Theatre, the Palm Theatre, and the Sheridan Opera House; All in Telluride, CO
How Much? Individual Screening Tickets: $20; Passes range from $95-$195
The 12th edition of this Colorado favorite packs atmospheric horror movie-mania over a weekend of scares. Closing the festival this year is the much anticipated “Antlers” —a Jesse Plemons-led and Guillermo del Toro-produced creature feature. As a state/locally sponsored event, lodging accommodations are available at a discounted rate through their site.

- Freak Show Horror Film Festival
When? Friday, Oct. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 31
Where? Epic Theaters at Lee Vista in Orlando, FL
How Much? Festival passes range from $20-60; Individual Screenings range from $7-12
Florida’s largest horror-genre film festival returns this year with a slew of new entries competing in its awards ceremony and airing festival frequent “A Savannah Haunting” (also part of the Atlanta Horror Film Festival’s line-up) among its other seven full-length features.
