On Campus Dining Options for Students this Summer

With the slowed down pace of the summer semester, many on-campus dining options have changed their hours of operation to accommodate for the decrease in students on campus. 

Luckily, there is still a large variety of delicious dining options available for students during Summer B (Jun. 20 – Jul. 29), from those looking to have a quick coffee break in between classes, to those looking for tasty full course meals.

Almazar

Graham Center (MMC)
Monday – Friday: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Located inside the Graham Centers (GC) main food court in between Pollo Tropical and Chili’s, Almazar offers customers with classic Middle Eastern and Greek dishes. Wait times for take out are low, so if you’re in a rush looking for quality food in between classes, Almazar is the spot for you.

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

On the second floor of GC’s Barnes & Noble, students can find the Barnes & Noble Café. This Café is a popular campus destination offering premium Starbucks drinks and a variety of snacks and meal options. With spacious indoor and outdoor seating, this dining option is a great spot for those looking to have a tasty meal while studying or hanging out with friends.

Café Bustelo

Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Offering a wide range of authentic Latin pastries, desserts, sandwiches, and café Cubano, Café Bustelo brings a little piece of home to the hearts of Latino students on campus. Located on the first floor of GC in the main food court area, Café Bustelo is a perfect spot for students looking to recharge with the Café’s signature Cuban coffee and pastries.

Monday – Thursday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Friday: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Found inside GC next to Almazar, Chili’s Too not only offers food but also provides a full bar. With its chill and spacious dining room area, students can find signature Chili’s dishes and a place to unwind with friends over cheesy nachos and drinks.

Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Looking for a place to eat after a killer workout? Be sure to visit Jamba Juice located on GC’s first floor across from Barnes & Noble. Offering plant-based smoothies, delicious bowls with fresh fruit options, and protein-packed food, Jamba Juice is an excellent dining option for students looking for a quick and healthy meal.

La Ventanita

Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Open since November 2019, La Ventanita brings Miami culture to FIU students. From cortaditos to pastelitos, this dining option offers students quick bites and a comfortable outdoor gathering area. Located outside of GC next to Barnes & Noble, La Ventanita is a great spot for anyone looking to try a taste of Miami’s food culture.

Open since 2020, Panera Bread has made its way to FIU. Need a warm and relaxing study spot that also offers counter-service bakery and cafe items? Be sure to make your way to Panera Bread located outside GC in front of the dining hall and try out some of their mouthwatering sandwiches and delicious refreshments.

The South Florida-based restaurant, Pollo Tropical, is a well known dining spot among FIU students. What started off as a simple recipe for citrus-marinated grilled chicken in 1988 evolved into a world of tropical flavors being offered to South Floridians. Found on the first floor of GC, be sure to check out Pollo Tropical’s signature grilled chicken.

Found next to Barnes & Noble inside GC on the first floor, RechargeU offers students a convenience style dining option for those looking for something to eat while in a rush.

In the mood for customizable submarine sandwiches? Subway is the way to go. Found on the first floor of GC next to Sergio’s Cuban, Subway also offers savory wraps and refreshing salads.

From delectable poke bowls to their scrumptious sushi rolls, Sushi Maki offers a wide range of lunch options for lovers of Asian food. Located on the first floor of GC, be sure to try out one of Sushi Maki’s signature Bubble Teas.

Being one of the largest American fast food restaurants, Chick-fil-A specializes in their rich tasting chicken sandwiches. With two locations at both MMC and BBC, students can enjoy quick and delicious food on the go.

This fast and casual restaurant offers flavorful combinations of Chinese regional cuisine with bold American tastes. Panda Express is located inside MANGO’s first floor and is a great dining choice for students looking for tasteful food after a long day of class.

Known by almost everyone, Starbucks is every college student’s saving grace during finals week. Offering fresh-roasted coffee and a variety of teas and refreshments, Starbucks has long been the place to study, unwind, or to hang out.

Located at the PG6 Market Station, Halfmoon Empanadas provides ready-to-order empanadas in a cafeteria-style environment. Their Latin American empanadas stuffed with sweet and savory fillings are guaranteed to satisfy your next empanada cravings.

Similar to the RechargeU dining option located inside GC, Market at Breezeway offers a convenience-styled atmosphere for students looking for a quick bite. If you find yourself at the Market at Breezeway, be sure to try their mouthwatering, famous Breezeway cookies.

Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Tropical Smoothie Café serves delicious smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, salads and flatbreads. Located inside the Wellness and Recreation Center at MMC, this Café offers students flavorful foods and an open study area.
