The Student Health Center at Biscayne Bay Campus will be closed on July 29 for about three to four weeks, according to FIU’s Health Department website.
Student Health Services Office Specialist Pamela Pershadsingh says the health center is undergoing renovations.
“There will be repairs on the tiles and floors,” Pershadsingh said. “We will be out for about a month but our services will remain.”
The health center will be temporarily moved to building Academic Center One in room 369 on Aug 1. Students can get health services from the department at its temporary location.
Alexis Jhonson, a senior majoring in criminal justice at FIU, goes to the health center on BBC for her monthly check-up, and is glad to hear there will be renovations.
“I’m happy to hear they are working to update the building because it did need some work,” Jhonson said.
Johnson will continue to get her monthly checks up at the temporary location until the center is back open.
In the meantime, telehealth appointments will still be available for student services.
