SIPA Announces Second Interim Dean as Search Continues

FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs announced Professor Shlomi Dinar as its new interim dean in an email circulated Aug 12.

Dinar will serve in the role through the fall semester and will be tasked with overseeing the search for a permanent dean, as well as the completion of the second phase of the SIPA complex.

He will be replacing Guillermo Grenier in the interim role, who held the position since founding dean John F. Stack’s passing in June.

The appointment was announced in a statement by Interim Provost Elizabeth M. Bejar, who added that the search for a permanent SIPA dean has taken more than six months after the initial round of candidates was rejected. 

Dinar’s FIU career spans two decades, having risen from assistant professor to Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at the Green School. 

SIPA administration was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
