A decision has finally been made.

Sophomore guard Denver Jones announced via Twitter that he intends to transfer to Auburn University on April 8.

Before choosing the Tigers, Jones indicated that his top six schools were Auburn, LSU, Alabama, DePaul, Florida State and Oklahoma.

The Panthers lose their do-it-all guard who led the team in points per game (20.1) and minutes played (33.4). These marks are best for second and fifth in the conference.

What’s a big loss for FIU is a major win for the Tigers, who receive a guard that can score inside and out and has no problem setting up his teammates when the defense comes down on him when driving to the rim.

For Auburn, Jones is a great addition because they lacked a player last season who can create their own shot and score at the rate that Jones can.

Jones’ 1.8 steals per game will also help bolster an already stout defensive team who was fifth in the SEC in steals last season with 8 SPG.

Auburn gets a phenomenal all-around player in Jones, with his talent and the potential for growth in the SEC.
